Mrs. Da Silva started at Discovery Primary School (DPS) in 2011.
The school Counsellor performs scholastic assessments after teachers have referred the child to the School Based Support Team (SBST). Eyes and hearing must be tested first before the assessment can be conducted so the scores are accurate.
Mrs. Da Silva provides individual or group counselling to modify behaviour, build self-esteem and address stressful life events like divorce, grief or trauma. Severe trauma is referred to a clinical psychologist or Discoverers Clinic. Parent and teacher support is also provided.

The school Speech Therapist performs assessments and develops treatment programmes for children with language, literacy and auditory processing difficulties.
She has developed a Stimulation Group programme for young learners in Grade 1 in collaboration with the Occupational Therapist to address potential difficulties arising in learners starting school too young.

The school Occupational Therapist performs assessments and develops treatment programmes for children with gross motor, fine motor, visual perceptual and sensory related difficulties. She has developed a Stimulation Group for young learners in Grade 1, in collaboration with the Speech Therapist, to address potential difficulties arising from starting school too young. Mrs. Churms runs pre-vocational skills groups for children with ongoing academic difficulties in preparation for referral to vocation based schools.
